Commitment to Gulf Continues with Oil Spill Assessment
June 10, 20
The biggest news in the Gulf is the tragedy unfolding with the largest oil spill in our nation's history. Oil is still spewing from the Deepwater Horizon well and there's no end in sight. The HSUS has assembled an expert team to assess the spill's impact on birds, marine mammals and other wildlife and we'll be working to identify any gaps that exist in the current response and to prepare for the long-term effects of this cataclysm.

BP Stocks Tumbles
NEW ORLEANS – BP's stock plummeted and took much of the market down with it Tuesday as the federal government announced criminal and civil investigations into the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. BP engineers, meanwhile, tried to recover from a failed attempt to stop the gusher with an effort that will initially make the leak worse.
Dealing With Chatty Cats

Some cats are very quiet, such as the Scottish Fold, and then there are the talkers, like the Siamese. Chatty cats will often seem to be conversing with you as they walk around the house or sit with you. This type of cat is likely to also view a phone call as a group experience - as soon as you start talking on the phone, they join in.There are a few things you can do to solve this problem. Ignoring your cat is not going to help - he'll just get louder to get your attention. Try petting your cat while your talking calms and quiets him. Playing with him distracts him, and feeding him works well too. Keep in mind, your solution depends partly on the nature of a call - a friend may find your howling feline funny but a business associate is less likely to agree.Kelly is a pet writer. She lives in the Boston area with her three pit bulls and one neurotic cat. |
