Horrific Discovery at Maryland Farm: 50 Starving Animals, 17 Piles of Remains
As you read this, American Humane's Red Star Animal Emergency Services™ team is in Howard County, Md., helping care for 26 horses -- all cruelly neglected and found on the verge of starvation. An additional 18 cows and six goats are being cared for at another location.

Please donate today to ensure that these and other animal victims of disasters -- natural or manmade, like this one -- receive the help they so desperately need!

Rescuers from the local humane society also made another terrible discovery: animal remains were found in at least 17 locations across the property.

An investigation is pending, and charges will likely be made against the owner.

Caring for 50 large animals at one time was beyond the capacity of Howard County. That's why American Humane is now working tirelessly alongside Days End Farm Horse Rescue and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to help care for the horses and ready them for adoption into new, loving homes!

According to Days End Farm Horse Rescue, it costs $2,000 for each horse for the first 30 days of medical treatment -- and that doesn't even include the cost of feeding and boarding. In addition to our Red Star team's services, we are providing a Second Chance® Fund grant to Days End Farm to help cover the cost of treating these poor animals.

Tragically, these kinds of cases are not uncommon. Please give what you can so we're ready when the next crisis strikes!

How absolutely sad for those poor neglected animals. We hope they find the help they need and all are able to recover. It's just so incredibly sad that humans can be so cruel.
